Hackberry's Bistro Manager – Full Time

Hackberry’s Bistro, located above and part of the People’s Food Co-op, seeks a qualified and creative Executive Chef/Bistro Manager.

This individual will coordinate and lead all front and back of house operations to meet daily kitchen and special events production needs.

The ideal candidate has purpose that aligns with PFC’s mission and is passionate about people and community. Versed in seasonal, organic and local fare, this individual brings a minimum two years managerial and restaurant experience rooted deep within the local and farm-to-table tradition. This is a salaried position reporting to the Food Service Director and a member of the La Crosse management team. Hackberry’s Bistro Kitchen Production

Our Kitchen Production staff are skilled in line cook food preparation, and knowledgeable with safe safety and safe food processing in accordance with state and local health regulations.  The ideal candidate is organized and thorough, can prioritize kitchen tasks with attention to detail and quality standards, and enjoys collaborating with others.  1-2 years food service department and line cook experience, with the ability to cook from scratch recipes.  Flexible scheduling to include opportunities in all shifts.

Hackberry's Bistro Server - Full Time

The candidate will be responsible for opening the restaurant, daily paperwork and supporting management with inventory and ordering.  Providing excellent customer service by serving the customer in a friendly and timely fashion that is in line with Hackberry’s service standards is expected.  Ensure cleanliness of restaurant, rotation of inventory, maintain retail products, and a knowledge of menu items and common food allergies.  Serving and leadership experience is preferred though not required.  Bartender’s license may be required within 30 days of hire for this position.  Weekend availability required.

Kitchen Production 1 - Full Time / Part Time

Our Kitchen Production staff are skilled in food preparation and presentation methods, and knowledgeable with safety and safe food processing in accordance with state and local health regulations.  The ideal candidate is organized and thorough, can prioritize kitchen tasks with attention to detail and quality standards, and enjoys collaborating with others.  1-2 years food service department experience, with the ability to cook from scratch recipes is ideal, but qualified persons with the right skill set will be mentored and trained.

Kitchen Production 2 - Full Time / Part Time

Our Kitchen Production staff are skilled in food preparation and presentation methods, and knowledgeable with safety and safe food processing in accordance with state and local health regulations.  The ideal candidate is organized and thorough, can prioritize kitchen tasks with attention to detail and quality standards, and enjoys collaborating with others.  2 years professional cooking experience preferred, with first line supervisory experience a plus.

Deli Counter Clerk - Full Time / Part Time

Provide prompt friendly courteous service to include offering samples, answering questions and making suggestions. Maintain knowledge of product, provides information to customers regarding use and preparation.  Ensure that the deli case is clean, stocked, rotated, garnished, proper signage is used and appealing to customers during entirety of shift.  Perform opening and closing duties to include required production work and cleaning/restocking requirements.  Must be organized, detail oriented and able to handle multiple demands.

Maintenance Lead Clerk - Full Time

Excellency in customer service is the primary focus of our lead maintenance clerks.  They will do this by maintaining clean facilities, prioritizing the appearance of the store, and assisting in other maintenance duties as assigned.  They will also be responsible for training new talent, scheduling, and prioritizing tasks.  Lead clerks will need to communicate effectively, assist department managers, understand, adhere to, and demonstrate company policy and procedures.

Meat Clerk - Part Time

Provide prompt, friendly and courteous service offering samples, answering questions and making suggestions in the areas of meat and seafood. Ensure the meat and seafood cases are clean, stocked, rotated, garnished, and properly labeled. Perform opening and closing duties as needed and including food production work. The ideal candidate is organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple demands in a fast-paced retail environment. Carnivorous enthusiasm and nimble knife skills a plus, but qualified individuals with the right skill set will be mentored and trained.

Front End Assistant

The Front End Lead Assistant will greet customers in a friendly manner; respond quickly and courteously to all requests and provide assistance and information to customers regarding any products and services. In addition, accurate and efficient operation of the POS system, prioritization and delegation of tasks, training staff, meeting requirements as assigned by managers, and following and demonstrating company and store policy. Prior supervisory experience a plus.

Wellness Lead Clerk

Excellent and enhanced customer service will be the primary focus of the Wellness department’s Lead Clerk. The current open Lead Clerk position will be responsible for purchasing items in the nutritional supplement category.  They will achieve this through prioritizing tasks of product ordering, various production assignments, careful inventory control, and accurate record keeping. The ideal candidate is an excellent verbal communicator, can establish and foster strong relationships with both internal and external customers, and has some experience, knowledge and/or passion for the health and wellness industry. Candidates must be available to work night and weekend shifts.

The candidate will receive and unload produce. Required to safely lift 50 lbs.  Candidate will assist in ordering and stock (includes washing, bundling and trimming) produce.  Rotate and face products according to department procedures.  Maintain department cleanliness and provide courteous, friendly and efficient customer service to include knowledge of product selection and location.  Candidate must be available afternoons to close with weekend availability.
