I’ve been an active member and shopper of food co-operatives since just after graduate school and I’ve always been interested in good food. As a vegetarian, I try to make good tasting, healthy food a big part of my regular diet. I enjoy cooking and entertaining, especially when I can showcase healthy food in the process. I generally keep myself busy by serving on my housing board, now serving on the Co-op board, sports, classic car shows, reading, listening to music and dancing (Middle Eastern dance and recently, Mohiniyattam). Professionally, I’m trained as a biologist and I work at the Mayo Clinic where I do genomics research.

I became interested in local natural foods and co-ops based on the importance of equal access and physical health to our communal welfare. Similar principles—plus a love for finding exactly the right word in a given situation—led me to become a public defender. I also enjoy coaching mock trial, hiking, and curling up with classic books.

I have  been a PFC member since moving to the Coulee Region in 1993. I am passionate about food, community, and health. Besides loving the great food available at PFC, I embrace the cooperative principles, with the goal of having healthy food available to our whole community. I also work at Mayo Clinic health system as a family physician.

I have been a member of the co-op since the Rochester store moved to its current location. Shopping at the co-op is important—good/safe food, locally sourced, and supportive of the community. I am honored to be on a board with many diverse backgrounds and perspectives, all working to promote the co-op mission. I am an attorney at Klampe, Delehanty, Pasternak & Niesen, in Rochester, with a focus on general litigation and employment law. My family is passionate about food and travel.

The La Crosse People's Food Co-Op location has been my primary grocer since relocating to this region in 2018, and I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the community which has so warmly welcomed me. I both live and work in Downtown La Crosse, and am currently employed as The Weber Group's Senior Marketer for our Downtown business holdings.

People‘s Food Co-op has provided me the ability to have a healthier and a more mindful relationship with food. Eating is one of the most—if not the most!—important things we do every day. It's a pleasure to work with other directors on the board to ensure the success of the co-op in our two communities.

By trade, I am a used book seller supplying materials for universities, professional organizations and collectors. My job allows me to indulge in two of my favorite things—travel and reading. If I'm not at home, I'm on the road in pursuit of a good book. I continue to live by the motto that “you can NEVER own too many cookbooks!”
