La Crosse Remodel Update No. 7
PROGRESS REPORT NO. 7
Hello co-op friends,
Here’s another update on the renovations for La Crosse store. We’ve now begun concrete repair and improvements; this concrete phase will last three weeks. The purpose of this work is to:
- repair broken sidewalks for safety,
- prevent water pooling at parking lot entrance,
- increase the safety of the outdoor receiving area,
- add a fence to improve aesthetics of trash area,
- add a bike rack and picnic bench in parking lot,
- make it easier to take trash out of the building.
Thank you for your patience during this phase. Once this is done we’ll be in good shape for a long time.
For the most part, the work indoors has been completed for 2018. We’re really loving the new service desk and express lanes – have you checked them out yet? During the next week we’ll be putting the finishing touches on these registers, with the lights and signs which help you find your way.
Painting will continue through early November and then we’ll begin replacing the art and signage on the walls. We’ll have the awnings replaced this fall, too. Here’s an example of how it will look:
The next phase begins just after the new year, with the expansion of the deli. That phase will be a big one – involving moving freezers and coolers and installing the hot bar and redesigning the deli counter. There will be periodic closures of some services, but we will not let you down on the basics. For example, we’ll offer coffee and hot soup during the deli closure; frozen pizza and ice cream will still be available while we’re moving the freezers. Our classroom will accommodate people when the deli seating area is unavailable. Keep an eye on our social media for details.
