Cooking with herbs—La Crosse

Herbs give pizzazz and added nutrition to the foods we love! What’s better—fresh or dried herbs? How can we dry and store herbs at home? Your questions will be answered! Savory Creations’ Chef Shawn McManus will demonstrate ways to use the most popular fresh or dried herbs in the dishes you love. He will toss in a few more highly flavorful or unusual ones that you will want to add to your kitchen repertoire. We will enjoy a refreshing herbal wine spritzer while Pam Hartwell, executive director of Hillview Agriculture Center, leads the discussion on the growing, characteristics and storage of your kitchen herbs. The class will be held in the greenhouse at Western’s Horticultural Education building in the community room at 624 Vine Street, so you can see and tour the state-of-the-art greenhouse operation before or after the class. 

Cost: $20 members; $30 nonmembers.
